Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving, a time to get together with family and eat tons of delicious food. This past weekend, we enjoyed a five day weekend that celebrated nothing but family and food. Of course, everyone was thankful and reflective as they sat around eating turkey and mashed potatoes. However, as Thanksgiving wraps up and fall starts to turn to winter, I hope everyone begins to feel a bit of the holiday spirit.
The cold, holiday weather in Portland is starting to inspire SMA girls into the fashion trend of warm outfits with comfy coats and knee-high boots. St. Mary's students are also getting into the holidays by putting up decorations all around the school and starting secret santa gifts. The Marian Singers are just about to start their Christmas performances and their long tradition of Christmas grams! Hopefully, every student will receive some holiday tidings in the form of lovely music. Finally, many students are beginning fall/winter sports and getting involved in wonderful things like TedxSma, Model United Nations, etc.
The season of chunky sweaters, boots, warm cookies and holiday smiles is coming and I hope that there is enough of these wonderful things to spread all around the SMA community and to the world!

Here we come December!
Thanks for reading and see you next time!

Holidays are coming!

Hello all!

All I can say is, it's red cup season! For anyone of you who are wondering what that means, it is simply an expression (linked to Starbucks changing to red cups) to say, it is Winter! In my mind this translates to thanksgiving, food filled with carbs, lots of sugary delectables, gifts galore, and a general aroma of holiday delight!

Many things have been going on at St. Mary's as we wind up for the holiday season. On October 30th we had many girls dressed up in their Halloween costumes ready for the weekend to begin. Also, many shadow visitors have been passing through the halls. Along those same lines, ambassadors just finished up St. Mary's Open House on November 1st. In the holiday spirit, the Marian singers are soon going to begin the busy holiday gig season. Change is in the air at SMA as our new and improved dress code is now being implemented, our fall sports ended making way for winter, and our students are sinking warmly into quarter two.

When I see you next, let's hope there is some snow on the ground! Thanks for reading and see you next time!

Blues Bridge Walk

Hello all!

Yet again, this month has passed by in a flash. As we run head first towards Halloween and the best months of the year (Christmas, am I right?), there are tons of things to reflect on in October. Firstly, all the sophomores and juniors survived the PSAT's on Wednesday! Also, we had a very successful Blues Bridge Walk Fundraiser, and danced the night away at the Father Daughter Dance.

Blues Bridge Walk was a fun day for everyone. The girls of SMA walked the route around the Portland waterfront and then returned back to St. Mary's for some fun treats. All the students were excited because we reached our goal of $100,000! Who doesn't want a day off?
In a similar fashion, the wonderful girls of St. Mary's danced the night away with their dads at SMA Father Daughter Dance. The "All Around the World" themed party had some great food and a funny Photo Booth. The fashion at the dance was amazing, every girl was in her best dress and heels!
As the wintery, cold months approach I see more and more houses dressed in festive decorations. My favorite are crazy pumpkins. Also, I hope to see some crazy, creative costumes this year!

Hopefully, we can have a great month, just like October.
